I got a manicure today. I like to do that occasionally. I don't splurge on myself very often - my husband has helped me become less of a spender and more of a saver in terms of finances. I used to grouch about it, but paradoxically, being more frugal has given me more financial freedom. In the past, there were times when I wanted very badly to get a manicure (or a pedicure or a pair of shoes), but couldn't afford it because I had splurged elsewhere. Now, I can treat myself without guilt, because I don't do it very often.
I am grateful that I have shifted my attitude about money and saving. The fact that I have done this is living proof that people can change, significantly, if the desire is there.
